Are you thinking of building a team? Not sure if it’s the right time? If these 5 signs sound exactly like you and your business, you’re ready for a team!

5 Signs You’re Ready for a Team

These aren’t the only five but they are the 5 that our coaches look for and that I look for. These are what we want to see. I want you to look at these and I want you to go “yup, that’s me. Yup, that’s me.” Whatever it is, I want you to take inventory as we’re going through this. So what are the 5 signs you’re ready for a team?

Your Client Service is Suffering

Everybody wants more repeat and referral business. This is where it starts, right here, at client servicing. If you’re not delivering incredible client service, you will not get more repeat and referral business. Everybody wants more word of mouth, but very few people do anything worth talking about. I want you to understand that.

Why? Because they are stressed. You need to have everything in place so that your client service gets ratcheted back up so that you’re delivering exceptional service.  That’s where people are excited. That’s where they are like “oh my gosh, this was amazing! They exceeded my expectations!” But you can’t do that without a team or without the systems and without the framework. At some point, if your client service is suffering, you’re starting to get ready for a team.

Your Income Has Plateaued

If you keep hitting that ceiling and you’re like “man, I can’t get past this. It’s like I keep capping out at $250,000 or $150,000 or $350,000, or $500,000.” Whatever that cap is, if your income plateaus and you want to go higher, you’re going to need a team to do it. That’s your ceiling. That’s your cap, and it’s different for everybody, but when it plateaus, you’re done.

You’re Turning Away Business

You want to know the most painful thing as a business owner? Saying no to people who want to give you their money. “I don’t have the time. I’m too busy.” I hate that. If we’re ever at that point where I turn away business, we’ve got a problem, we have to scale it and we have to do something else, because I do not want to say no to people who say “I need your help. I want to use you. I want you to coach us.” I want to be able to bring them all on board. So if at any point in time you’re turning away business and you don’t like that and that rips a little part of your soul out, you’re ready for a team.

Your Family Doesn’t Recognize You

Picture this: you come home and your kid runs screaming to your wife or husband and goes “mommy! There’s a burglar in the house!” They look at you and don’t know who you are. They don’t know your name. Your relationships are suffering and they are falling apart because you don’t have time.

You’re working seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year because this is a “24/7, 365 day business” and if your clients call at 11 pm on a Sunday night, that phone is sitting right by the bed so you can text them back or you can answer that call. Or you’re out at dinner and your kids know you’re out at dinner because you’re right there on your phone. And they see that. And they watch that. That’s no way to live, if you ask me. If your family relationships are suffering, you’re ready for a team.

Vacation Sounds Like a Fantasy

Does vacation sound like something about as believable as a unicorn dancing on a rainbow? You’re like “a vacation?! That’s where I go work from exotic locations.” That’s what that means because I’ve been there.

I remember my very first trip to Europe. I was 22 or 23 years old. I was so excited. All that meant was that I hopped from one Internet cafe to another looking for a connection so that I could work from an exotic location. See, if you can’t take a vacation without your phone attached to your hip or more likely your head, you’ve got major problems and you’re going to burn out.

If any of these 5 things hit a little too close to home for you…you’re ready for a team.
